Padres 8, Orioles 1 : In Two Deep – The Padres homer 5 times, including back to back longballs on the first 2 pitches in their half of the 1st, to rout the O’s @ home. Fernando Tatis Jr. (#18) & Franmil Reyes (#27) both homer off of Orioles starter David Hess on the first 2 pitches they see to give Padres starter Chris Paddack some early run support – it is a franchise first for San Diego. Hosmer hits a 2-run shot (#14) in the 4th off of Hess & Rookie Luis Urias goes deep (#1) in the 4th as well. Just recalled from Triple-A, Hess allows 5 runs on 6 hits in 4 2/3 innings, he strikes out 5 but allows 4 homers. Hosmer hits a 3-run shot (#15) off of reliever Dillon Tate in the 7th to blow it open. Making his Major League debut, Tate allows 3 runs on 2 hits, walks 1 & strikes out 3 in 2 innings of work.
Baltimore is now 4-4 in their last 8, all on the westcoast & will look to earn the split today.
