Opportunity Knocks

Orioles 8, Padres 5 : Opportunity Knocks – Chris Davis hits a clutch go-ahead homerun in the 7th to snap an 0-18 skid, as the O’s rally to beat the Padres for the first time this season & earn a split out west. Fernando Tatis Jr. homers in the 1st (#19) & becomes the youngest player in MLB history to hit lead off homers in consecutive games. Manny Machado connects 4 pitches later (#26) as the Padres go back to back in the 3-run 1st against O’s starter Thomas Eshelman. Jace Peterson singles home a run & Richie Martin hits a clutch 2-out, 2-run single in the 4th against Padres starter Dinelson Lamet. Renato Nunez’ 2-run single ties it in the 7th & Davis blasts the Orioles ahead for good when he homers (#8) off of reliever Matt Strahm & Trey Mancini adds a 2-run double to add some insurance.
Baltimore finishes their West Coast trip @ 5-4 & will now return home to play Toronto on Thursday.
