Ranging Right

Rangers 3, Orioles 1 : Ranging Right – The Rangers lean on their youth movement, as Kolby Allard wins his 3rd straight start, Nick Solak homers & the Rangers go on to beat the O’s. Trey Mancini doubles & scores on a sac fly by Renato Nunez to break a scoreless tie in the 6th against Allard – it is his only run allowed on the night. He goes 6 1/3, allows 1 run on 8 hits, walks 2 & strikes out 2. O’s starter John Means was dealing until the 7th, when Elvis Andrus leads off w/ a single & Solak hits a 2-run shot (#2) to put the Rangers ahead. Means goes 6 2/3, allowing 2 runs on just 4 hits, he walks none & strikes out 4. Logan Forsythe singles home Solak in the 9th to add a huge insurance run against reliever Branden Kline. Jose Leclerc does allow a double to Mason Williams in the 9th but still closes it out for the save.
Baltimore has now lost 16 of their last 23. Game 2 is tonight.
