Swept a Ray : The Rays sweep the O’s for the 2nd time this season, remaining undefeated against the Birds & becoming the 1st team to 40 wins.

Game 1 : Rays 4, Orioles 2 – Ryan Yarbrough strikes out 6 in 6 innings, he allows just 2 runs, both unearned, on 3 hits, while walking none after pitching a complete game in his last outing (the Rays 1st complete game in 5 years) & wins consecutive starts after ending a 24-game winless streak as a starter. Trey Mancini drills a 2-run shot in the 3rd to give the O’s the lead but Brandon Lowe’s 2-run shot in the 4th gives the Rays the lead for good. Manuel Margot adds another on an RBI single in the 7th to add an insurance run as Tampa Bay improves to 21-5 since May 13th. Ryan Mountcastle has his streak of 8 consecutive games w/ an RBI snapped in the loss for Baltimore.

Game 2 : Rays 5, Orioles 4 – Joey Wendle doubles & scores in a 3-run 1st for Tampa Bay as the Rays give starter Rich Hill some early run support & they would need all of it. Brandon Lowe cracks a 2-run double in the 4th to seemingly break the game open but Austin Wynns hits his first career Grand Slam to cut the lead to 1 in the 5th, his 1st HR since September 24, 2019. Hill gives up 4 runs on 4 hits, walks 3 & strikes out 5 in 4 2/3 innings of work. Colin McHugh allows 1 hit over 2 scoreless innings to pick up his first win since August 30th, 2019. He strikes out 5 & walks none. Tampa Bay is now 28-10 since the beginning of May & 5-0 against Baltimore, who loses their 14th in a row on the road.

Game 3 : Rays 7, Orioles 1 – Randy Arozarena hits his first career Grand Slam in the 7th to break a tight game wide open & help the Rays sweep the O’s for the 2nd time this season. Bruce Zimmerman allows 3 runs on 6 hits in 5 2/3 innings of work, strikes out 3 & walks 3 – he gives up an RBI single to Yandy Diaz in the 3rd & a 2-run single to Taylor Walls in the 4th as his career-high 3 game winning streak ends. Michael Wacha goes 2 innings as an opener & the Rays bullpen tosses 7 No-Hit innings the rest of the way to shut down the O’s bats before Arozarena puts the game away on the GS. Tampa Bay improves to 23-5 since May 13th & is a major league best 42-24 on the season. Pat Valaika singles home the lone run in the 1st for Baltimore.
