Game 1 : Astros 3, Orioles 10, Orioles 2 – The Astros take a combined No-Hitter into the 8th inning, as Jake Odorizzi tosses 5 hitless innings, giving up 1 walk & striking out 9 & retires the first 13 batters he faces before walking DJ Stewart in the 5th. He has now gone 5 starts in a row without allowing a run against the Orioles. 3 Houston relievers close the game out, despite a 41-minute rain delay in the 8th inning. Yordan Alvarez drills a 3-run bomb in a 5-run Houston 3rd, Yuli Gurriel adds a sacfly & Carlos Correa singles home another in a 2-run 7th & Michael Brantley doubles in another & scores on a double by Garrett Stubbs Jr. as the Astros score 2 more in the 8th. Maikel Franco drills a 2-run shot in the 8th for the Birds to end the No-Hit bid against reliever Brandon Bielak & Stevie Wilkerson singles as the Birds finish w/ 2 hits. Game 2 : Astros 3, Orioles 1 – Zack Grienke takes a 4-hitter into the 8th inning, allows just 1 run on 5 hits, walks 1 & strikes out 4 as the Astros pull out a tough, gritty game to win their 9th in a row. Miles Straw gives him some run support early as he hits a solo shot in the 2nd to put Houston ahead & singles home another go ahead run in the 7th to score Chas McCormick, who then adds a sacfly in the 8th to add a huge insurance run. Houston has now 9 in a row & also wins their 7th straight series in the process, their longest streak since 2019. Jorge Lopez allows 2 runs on 5 hits in 6 1/3 innings, walks 2 & strikes out 6 for the O’s but takes the loss. Cedric Mullins hits a sacfly to tie the game in the 3rd before Straw’s single in the 7th. Baltimore runs it’s losing streak to 4 games in a row, has now lost 12 of their last 13 & owns the worst record in the AL.
